[Starting the Game] Upon launching War Rock, the game client will patch automatically (if any patches are available). It will then run the game and take you to the Login screen, where you will enter your login and password. After logging in, you will be taken to the Server List. For the best possible playing experience, please select the server closest to you. Upon connecting to a server, you will enter the Server Lobby, where you can chat with other players and select from the available Game Modes. You will only see the rooms available for your currently selected Game Mode; you may toggle Game Mode at any time from the menu on the left. You may also access the Item Shop & Armory from this screen, where you may purchase, upgrade, and equip new weaponry and items. Some Game Modes, Room Options, etc. are only available to Premium users. [Channels] There are three "basic" channels. + Close Quarters Combat CQC maps are small and focus on mission objectives and face-to-face combat. For mission-based maps, you will only spawn once per scenario. However, there are other modes (such as FFA) in which you will spawn at regular intervals. +Urban Ops These maps range from medium to large size. The object is to reduce the opposing team’s map score (displayed at the top of the screen) to zero by killing opposing players, capturing their flags, etc. These maps have a few vehicles. +Battle Group BG maps are the largest in the game, and feature vehicles you won’t see in any other maps. Like Urban Ops, your goal is to reduce the opposing team’s score to zero. [Modes] Depending on the Channel, special game modes may be available. + Free For All (FFA) FFA is just what it sounds like; there are no teams! The first player to reach a set amount of kills wins the match. + Conquest Conquest focuses on capturing and holding territory flags. Both teams start with 999 points, and whichever team holds less flags will gradually lose points - proportional to how many flags they're losing by. Alternately, a team can force an early win by capturing all flags on the map! [XP & Rank] The icon to the left of your playername is your Rank, based on your Experience Points (XP), which you earn by completing games. You will earn points for eliminating enemy players, destroying enemy vehicles, capturing flags, and accomplishing other goals. You lose points for dying. You will lose a percentage of dinar/XP earned during a game if you exit before the game has ended. [Character Classes] +Engineer The Engineer is a master of technology, capable of repairing any vehicle at uncanny speeds. Engineers can often be found in vehicle crews, providing repair support on the go. +Medic Lightly armed, medics can heal themselves as well as save their teammates from certain death. +Sniper Deadly from afar, the Scout provides valuable recon information while taking out enemy troops, one headshot at a time. +Assault The core of every force, the Assault trooper is well armed and moderately fast on foot. Partnered with a medic, he's as dangerous as soldiers get. +Heavy Trooper Radar-guided rockets, mines, even chainguns - if you need to blow something up, you call in Heavy Troopers. [Map Assets] Some bases come with usable assets, which are marked on your map. You will begin to use them automatically if you are within range (a completion % will be indicated on your User Interface). Assets do not run out. Cross: Heals soldiers on foot. Bullets: Restocks soldier ammunition. Bomb: Restocks vehicle ammunition. Wrench: Repairs vehicles. =============================================================== Known Issues =============================================================== + Integrated Video Chip Sets Users with Integrated video chip sets on their mother boards may experience in-game play being much darker then it should be. We are currently looking into a solution for this. Please visit the Tech Support forum at http://forum.warrock.net/index.php?f=18 for more details. + NetLimiter Please do not use programs that may interfere with data transfer (ie. NetLimiter), as it will be reported by PunkBuster as a hack. + "Blocked O/S Privileges" Please temporarily disable other security programs you have running such as anti-virus, process guard, SDProtector, etc. to find out which of them is blocking PB's access to resources on your computer. You will then need to run PB without the blocking program(s). + For other issues with Punk Buster please visit http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=support-wr.php and read the FAQ located on that page. + "Cannot get vs.zip" / high latency / frequent disconnects Please check your firewall and router settings. War Rock requires you to open and allow TCP: 5340 and UDP: 5350. This may also be caused by proxy servers, which are used for indirect connections. If you are using a proxy server, it must allow traffic from http://patch.warrock.net. You will need to make sure that all web browsers installed are not using Proxy Servers to connect to the Internet. Below are the steps to check if your browsers are attempting to connect to Proxy Servers. You must do this to all web browsers installed since the game will use those settings to update or connect to the WarRock game server. [Internet Explorer]: Launch IE Click on “Tools” from the top Menu Select “Internet Options” from the list Select the “Connections” tab Click on the “LAN Settings” button Under “Proxy server” unclick the “Use proxy server for you LAN” Click OK and then check to see if you can connect to the Internet. If you can then, you do not need to use a proxy server. [FireFox] Launch FireFox Click on “Tools” from the top Menu Select “Options” from the list Click on the “General” tab Click on the “Connection “Settings” button Make sure only the “Direct Connection to the Internet” radio button is selected Click OK and then check to see if you can connect to the Internet. If you can then, you do not need to use a proxy server. + "Cannot open a zip file" or "Cannot get file PF_XXXX_X.zip" This means that the update patch (a zip file) has been corrupted during the download. Try deleting your version.cfg (which will then force your WR to re-patch entirely). + Known issues behind a corporate firewall or proxy: If you are experiencing problems downloading the latest game patch, please contact your firewall administrator to clear the http cache on the proxy server (clearing the cache will allow all users behind the corporate proxy to get the latest update from our game server). If possible, please ask them to add http://patch.warrock.net to be unfiltered from the proxy. Certain ports that may also need to be open if you are not able to play on-line are TCP: 5340 and UDP: 5350. You may need to ask your network administrator to open them. + More Support If you're still having problems installing or running the game, please register for the forums at http://www.warrock.net and look through the Technical Support section.
